Details Hold on a sweet second. Steel cases. Berdan primers. Bullets that attract a magnet. Is this 7.62×39 ammo … from Russia? Nope! It’s Kaiser ammo, from Turkey with love! Steel cases. They’re the wallet-friendly alternative to brass. Granted, they let more propellant residue work its way inside the action. Also granted, they offer no value as handloading components. But if your goal’s to shave as much off your ammo budget as you’re humanly able, then steel cases are unarguably the way to go. Berdan primers. A lot of shooters assume they are corrosive. And they can be, when they are found in old Soviet military surplus. This ammo, on the other hand, was loaded recently by a company that was founded long after corrosive primers were phased out of use. Bullets that attract a magnet. This ammo certainly has them: 123 grain bimetal-jacketed FMJs, which won’t pass mustard at a range that bans bullets containing steel. Make sure your range isn’t one of them before (wisely) investing in a whole flat of Kaiser!
