We’ve heard some folks say that until you can hit 1,000 yards with the 308 Win, you have no business firing anything else. We’re of the opinion that you should fire any kind of ammo you please, but if you’re trying to live up to the 308’s 1,000-yard standard, Hornady Superformance Match is just about the best way to go about it.

This cartridge is loaded with the 168 grain ELD Match – a bullet that is exclusively meant for target shooting, as it lacks any features which would have enabled it to expand after colliding with a game animal. In addition to its concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket, streamlined secant ogive geometry and boat tail, the ELD Match features Hornady’s Heat Shield tip. The tip is made of polymer that will not melt or otherwise deform when it is exposed to extreme heat, which assures that the bullet’s meplat remains perfect no matter how violently it is cooked by aerodynamic friction.

Hornady loads Superformance Match ammo with temperature stable propellant that amplifies muzzle velocity by up to 200 fps. Even so, this ammo does not produce extra chamber pressure, recoil or loss of accuracy. Premium primers and brass complete this 0.263 G7 (0.523 G1) ballistic coefficient long-distance target ammo.
